Get ready for a stunning and unique collection of Steampunk pieces at Thames Con 2019 featuring the work of 'Mostly Curious Games' and other Steampunk artists.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery, making for beautiful and interesting artwork.
Jim Henson, an extraordinary artist and visionary, invented unique worlds and characters that remain just as vivid, original and fresh today as when they were created. A television pioneer, an innovator in puppetry, technology and visual arts, and a performer who literally brought to life some of the most memorable characters ever-including the world's most famous frog, Kermit™ - Jim Henson's impact on entertainment, education and culture continues to this day.
As a special tribute to Jim we will have a very exclusive Henson Exhibition on display at Thames Con in April. This will include original scripts from The Muppet Show and the Muppet movies, scripts and call sheets from the ABC series of The Muppets, original Fraggle Rock scripts, a collection of Henson Company Christmas cards including 2 Dark Crystal cards many signed from Jim himself! Original and replica puppets, plus loads more fantastic pieces such as storyboards, set blueprints, Dark Crystal props and autographs from Muppet puppeteers past and present.
IPMS Middleton Cheney will be showcasing a host of stunning hand made models from the world of film and TV including their award winning collection.
A bit about them
IPMS Middleton Cheney is a friendly and informal model club based in South Northamptonshire. The club maintains a more light-hearted approach towards the hobby, and actively supports all abilities, believing that if the model looks good to you, then it’s good enough for us!
Founded in 2005, the club is made up of members from around the Banbury area, indeed an early name for the club was the Four Shires Model Club, owing to members living in the counties of Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire! In 2015 the club celebrated its tenth anniversary, while in 2016 we focused our show displays on the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, resulting in best display awards at the Poole Vikings show, as well as the prestigious Scale ModelWorld in Telford, on the club’s debut. The Star Trek display was also featured in an article of the IPMS UK magazine.
