What does my ticket get me? 

Your ticket gets you entry to the whole event, all of the talks and the majority of the workshops as stated on the individual workshop description.

Do I have to buy tickets in advance? 

Because this venue has a limited capacity and is in a very busy tourist area, we cannot guarantee there will be tickets left to purchase on the day. Please purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. 

How are my tickets delivered? 

All of our tickets are e-tickets and will be sent to you via your chosen email address.

Do I need to print tickets? 

Your ticket will need to be checked and scanned on entry. You will need to be able to print your ticket to bring to the event or display it on a compatible phone or tablet display. 

I can no longer attend Thames Con, can I get a refund for my ticket? 

All tickets are non-refundable but are transferable if you let us know in advance. 


Special Guests

When will guests be announced? 

We announce guests as soon as we have official confirmation. Guests can be announced at any point up to the day of an event. 

How do I meet the celebrity guests? 

Guests participate in talks, workshops, autograph and photograph sessions. On arrival you will be given an event schedule that will show you places and times of where the guest will be. If you would like to approach a guest while they are at their signing table, but you are feeling a bit shy/don’t know what to say, just let one of our friendly crew know and they will be happy to chaperone you. 

Autographs and Photoshoots

How much is an autograph?
Autograph prices vary according to each guest. These will be published soon on the guest page. 

Can I take a selfie with my favourite guest? 

Most of our guests are happy for you to take selfies with them but for the majority there is a cost to this. Please keeping checking our guest page for updates on prices. 

Do I have to buy photograph tickets in advance? 

Photograph tickets are available to purchase online and at the event on the day. To save time on the day we recommend buying your photo tickets in advance. 

How many people can I have in one photograph? 

You can have up to two adults and two children in one photograph with a guest.

Please do bear in mind that you will only receive one print per photograph purchased. Additional prints cost £5.

How long will I have to wait to have my photograph printed? 

Photographs will be printed instantly and displayed in an attractive card frame. This makes a great gift! 

Can I get a digital version of my photograph? 

We cannot guarantee this but its likely Picktureit (our chosen photoshoot company) will upload these images to their website. 


Do you have any rules about costumes, weapons, and props? 

This is a family friendly event so you costume must be appropriate i.e no nudity etc. You will not be allowed to bring in any real weapons and fake weapons will be checked by security. If we feel that any of your props could cause serious damage to another individual, then it will not be allowed into the event. We just want everyone to have a nice time and be safe. 

Can I come in cosplay? 

Yes please we actively encourage it however you don't need to feel that you have to if you don't want to. 

My costume has broken, what can I do? 

The cosplay desk can offer assistance for repairs.

Is there somewhere I can get changed into my costume? 

Yes! We have onsite changing rooms that are clean and spacious and even have showers if you feel the need! 

Talks & Workshops

Where do talks & workshops take place? 

Talks will be held on the indoor stage and in the lecture theatre. Workshops will be happening in the lecture theatre, dance studio and class rooms. Map and schedule will be provided on the day. 

Can I take photos/ film in talks and workshops?

You are welcome to photograph and film talks. You can also take as many photos as you like in workshops, but filming workshops is strictly prohibited. If you are seen filming a workshop you will be asked to leave that workshop. 


What are the opening hours?
Saturday 10.00am - 5.00pm 

Sunday 11.00am - 4.00pm 

The Venue

Opened by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales on 12 May 1897, Oxford Town Hall is a Victorian Grade II* listed building. It is located right in the heart of Oxford and is the home to the Museum of Oxford. The Town Hall has seen the likes of the Rolling Stones and David Bowie take to its stage and Nelson Mandela accept his Freedom of the City Award. Is there Parking?

NO. There is no onsite parking. There is a drop off point just outside the venue for disabled visitors but cars will need to be parked in one of the local car parks or better yet use the park and ride (it's cheaper).

What is the best way to get to the venue?

We recommend using google maps to find the best way to the venue. Please not, there are no train stations in Abingdon. Map to the venue can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. 

Is there WiFi?


Are there special tickets for disabled visitors 

Unfortunately we are not able to provide discounted tickets for carers.

Is the event suitable for children?

Yes! There is plenty for kids to see and do at Thames con. 

Can my child go for free? 

Children under the age of 5 go free. 

Can I bring my own food and drink? 

Yes you can. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars locally. 

Is there a cloakroom? 


Are there cash point facilities? 

There are NO cash points at the venue. The closest cash point is 1 minute walk from the venue.

Will stalls take debit/credit cards? 

Some stalls do take debit/credit cards but not all of them. We do recommend you bring cash with you.

How much cash should I bring? 

We recommend bringing as much cash as you hope to spend on the day..maybe a little more..just in case you see something you like but that vendor doesn’t take card payments. 

Will I be filmed and photographed? 

Potentially yes. Our events attract the local press and it is within the terms and conditions of your attendance that you may be filmed. If you do not want to be filmed or photographed you must let one of our crew know as soon as you get to the event. 

Can I take my own videos and photographs? 

Yes. Please do ask permission first from anyone you would like to video or photograph and respect their wishes if they decline. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #ThamesCon and our handle @thamescon if you upload to social media 😊 

Am I allowed to bring in photographic equipment? 

No. Due to how busy our show is and how popular it is for photographers we do not have the space for any lighting rigging or additional equipment other than your own camera. If you are found using any additional photographic equipment other than your own camera it may result in you being asked to leave the event
